This Videodrome mock cover is a design and illustration cover proposal for the Criterion Collection’s DVD of the 1983 Cronenberg movie. The layout fits the preexisting template of a typical Criterion Collection box while incorporating visuals inspired by the film. This project was done for an optional assignment for my Parsons illustration thesis which would later be sent to the Criterion Collection to consider.

Process

I started by researching Videodrome while compiling standout visuals. After sketching my ideas, and deciding on the composition I drew the main cover with ink on a bristol board. I digitally colored those illustrations and added the Criterion Collection layout. I selected typefaces that would match the film. Lastly, I added Chromatic aberration and glowing effects to give the impression that the cover is a screen.
